Physical Education

Purpose of Physical Education Classes: Through sports and physical activities, the aim is to promote the physical and mental health development of students, cultivate their athletic skills, team spirit, and competitive awareness, as well as encourage active participation in sports activities to develop good exercise habits and lifestyles.

The goals can be divided into the following aspects:

  1. Cultivating Students' Athletic Skills: Physical education classes are the primary venue for students to learn sports skills and techniques. Through the teaching in these classes, students can master various athletic skills such as running, jumping, throwing, catching, and shooting.

  2. Fostering Health Awareness: Physical education classes can help students understand the importance of exercise for both physical and mental health, further cultivating their health awareness and encouraging them to develop good lifestyle habits.

  3. Developing Team Spirit: Physical education classes often require students to engage in team sports, which fosters their team spirit and communication skills. Students learn to collaborate, support each other, coordinate, and communicate effectively.

  4. Nurturing Competitive Awareness: Physical education classes allow students to experience the joy and challenges of competition, thereby developing their competitive awareness and courage. Students learn to remain calm and unleash their potential in competitive situations.

Qualification aims and objectives
The aims and objectives of this qualification are to enable students to:

  • develop theoretical knowledge and understanding of the factors that underpin physical activity and sport and use this knowledge and understanding to improve performance understand how the physiological and psychological state affects performance in physical activity and sport

  • perform effectively in different physical activities by developing skills and techniques and selecting and using tactics, strategies and/or compositional ideas

  • develop their ability to analyse and evaluate to improve performance in physical activity and sport

  • understand the contribution that physical activity and sport make to health, fitness and wellbeing

  • understand the key socio-cultural influences that can affect people’s involvement in physical activity and sport.
